There are plenty of excuses why parents don’t want to take their entire family on trips. I recently took a “dad and kids” trip to Atlanta and saw that many of those excuses are just that, excuses. What I found out was that, not only did we all survive, but we built memories to last a lifetime!
As the #TravelManager for this trip, I found it easy to do much my research online in advance. After the kids were in bed, I spent an hour a night, for about two nights, looking at destinations and developing a plan. However, I also left flex time to be able to go to a new place at the last minute if we wanted to. It was important for us to stay at a hotel in in a central location. We also wanted a place where we could start each day with a great, hot breakfast. We found that Homewood Suites by Hilton was the perfect spot for us, right in the middle of the city.
We had some great #DadTime bonding that happened as we experienced some amazing family-friending spots that you must see in Atlanta, Georgia. From amusement parks, to kid friendly museums, to secret treat stops in the middle of a mall, our family packed it all in.
As a dad, I can’t wait for my next trip with my kids. I also think more dads should step up and plan trips of their own with their kids. It doesn’t have to be a long vacation, but it could be just an overnight getaway. You can do this dads! Get creative, have fun, and build those memories!
